Coastal Fog Brewing: Coastal Fog IPA

So Bevmo had these at the end of the check out for $2.49, i'm thinking hey it can't hurt to try, might be a diamond in the rough, right? woof! by far the worst ipa i've had. It was very dry, flat, faint hops and malts. It's like someone took one of the big four light beers and mixed that in with the last few back wash swigs of a middle of the road IPA. $2.49 was way to good to be true. again, you get what you pay for.

Mission Brewery: Mission IPA

This was a solid IPA. The smell is very fruity and sweet when you crack it open. The mouthful is about the same but with a bit of a biscuit taste because of the malts, which i like. This almost reminds me a of a double because of the solid malty body. I could see this being a regular buy for me.

New Belgium Brewing inc: Ranger IPA

You can't really beat the price at $2.99 for a bomber and it comes in a 6 pack.

This is a nice IPA to sit down on a warm summer day while grilling. It's very light and crisp, but that's about it. When you crack it open you can really smell the grass and pine hops with some citrus mixed in, unfortunately it smells better than the actual mouthful that has more of a light bitter dryness with little malt body to it at all.

This was enjoyable, but i can think of other IPA's i would get for a buck or two more that would be much better.

Lagunitas Maximus IPA

Another ale in my search for for So. Cal's finest I.P.A.'s

This has a pretty strong citrus/hops smell when pored.
A mix of lots of hops, citrus and pine taste with a lingering bitterness at the end.
Over all this is very good IPA. I don't know if we'll be able to find it back east but if so, i recommend picking it up.

Marin Brewing Co. I.P.A.

This is a pretty smooth tasting IPA. Mellow hop flavor with a slight grapefruit undertone.
If someone would ask what kind of IPA they should start with, i would say this is i one of them. Not the big Hop Impact that i was expecting.

Rogue Imperial I.P.A.

I found this at Bevmo in Valencia CA.

This comes in a neat ceramic bottle.

First mouthful gives all good characteristics of an IPA. nice bitter hop all the way through with a citric pine tang at the end. The malts they use make every sip taste full and rich. A very hoppy malty beer.

Bell's Two Hearted Ale

Chad- Right amount of hops mixed with citrus flavor.

Alexander- Even hops and citrus all the way through.
All around solid IPA, I'm glad i gave this one a second chance. ( a mellower version of Bell's Hopslam maybe?)

Hop Ottin IPA

Chad- No Comment.

Alexander- Light hop to start that hits a tinny hoppy flavor.
We only had one so it was kinda hard to rate. rating pending.

Ale Smith IPA

Chad- A bit bitter. Nice hops!

Alexander- Bitter all the way through from start to finish with a dry hop end. One of the more bitter IPA that i've had.
I think i would get a 6 pack. 4.4 out of 5
